My aesthetics clients will agree- I always stress the importance of following good aftercare. This includes avoiding applying makeup to the treated area for 24β48 hours following treatment- the longer the better!
Although post-injection makeup products are available online, my advice is always to avoid anything that could potentially compromise the healing process.
Why?
Makeup brushes and applicators can harbour oil, dead skin cells, debris, and bacteria. Using these tools to conceal post-treatment redness or bruising increases the risk of introducing bacteria to the skin, which may lead to infection.
If you cannot remember when your makeup applicators were last thoroughly cleaned, this is your reminder to give them a proper deep clean βor consider replacing them altogether.
We are always happy to offer advice on safe post-treatment foundation and lip products, appropriate brush cleansers, and premium skincare recommendations.
Please note: if an infection is ever suspected, prompt assessment and treatment are essential. This is included for all clients as part of our standard aftercare package.
