One option is the use of botulinum toxin ‘Botox’.  This is a naturally occurring protein which is used for both medical and aesthetic treatments. This is a prescription only medication and therefore a face to face consultation must be conducted before any treatment can be agreed. 

The botulinum toxin works by blocking chemical messages sent from the nerve to the muscle causing contractions. As a result, the muscle cannot contract as much and so will remain in a ‘resting state’ for 8-12 weeks, until the ‘chemical messengers’ recover. Due to the nature of action, botulinum toxin can only act on lines which occur with expression, rather than static lines.
