Natural-looking lip enhancement

At Angel Aesthetics, my approach to lip enhancement is subtle, personalised and proportionate.

I don't believe that lip enhancement should automatically mean significantly larger lips. For some clients, the most appropriate treatment may involve a very small amount of filler; for others, improving definition or improving balance may make a more noticeable difference.

My aim is to work with your existing features to create natural-looking, balanced and refreshed lips.

What you won't find at Angel Aesthetics

I don't offer exaggerated or highly stylised lip shapes.

No Russian Lips.
No Bratz Lips.
No “3D” Lips.

Instead I focus on individual anatomy, proportion and your own aesthetic preferences.

What can lip enhancement involve?

There are several approaches that may be considered depending on your concerns and what you would like to achieve.

Lip filler - Restylane Kysse

Hyaluronic acid dermal filler can be used in carefully selected areas of the lips to provide volume, improve definition and improve upper/lower lip balance.

It can also be used to define the lip border, lift corners or improve the appearance of lines around the mouth.

The amount and placement of filler will be tailored to your individual anatomy and treatment goals.

Lip boosters

Lip boosters are designed to improve hydration and provide a subtle plumping effect without the same structural or sculpting effect associated with traditional lip filler.

They can be an option for someone looking for a more subtle change, or may form part of a wider treatment plan.

The effects are temporary and vary between individuals.

Other treatment options

In selected circumstances other treatment approaches may be discussed during your consultation.

Because some aesthetic treatments involve prescription only medicines, these can only be considered following an appropriate clinical assessment and consultation.

Factual information - Botulinum toxin can be used to create a 'lip flip' and to improve the appearance of a downturned mouth.

What can be treated?

Depending on your individual anatomy and treatment goals treatment may be considered for:

Lip border definition
Lip volume
Upper and lower lip balance
Philtrum definition
Lip corner lift
Certain lines around the lips (often called smoker's lines)
Selected cases of cleft lip scarring

Not every treatment is suitable for every client.

Your individual anatomy, previous treatment and desired outcome will all be considered before a treatment plan is recommended.

Cleft lip enhancement

I have undertaken specialist training in the treatment of cleft lip scarring and can offer cleft lip filler treatment in carefully selected cases.

The aim is to improve the appearance of the scar and help create a smoother, more balanced appearance.

Because scar tissue behaves differently from normal lip tissue treatment is often approached gradually and may require more than one session.

Suitability and treatment options will be discussed during a consultation, and a personalised quotation will be provided.

My approach to lip filler

I take a deliberately conservative approach to lip enhancement.

I don't offer large volume filler packages or encourage clients to have a particular number of mls simply because it is available.

No two treatments are the same and 0.5ml can create different results for different people.

Instead, I consider:

Your natural lip proportions
Facial balance
Existing asymmetry
Previous filler
The condition of the tissues
Your desired outcome
Whether further treatment is actually necessary

Sometimes the most appropriate recommendation may be less treatment rather than more.

Existing lip filler

If you have existing filler that was placed by another practitioner I will assess this before recommending further treatment.

For safety reasons I will not add further lip filler or booster where there is existing filler from another practitioner placed within the previous 12 months, palpable filler or where there is concern about filler migration or an unknown amount of residual product.

In these circumstances I may recommend allowing the existing filler to settle, further assessment or dissolving before considering additional treatment.

I also limit the total amount of filler used as part of my practice's conservative approach to lip enhancement- usually 1-2mls is sufficient.

Filler dissolving

I offer elective dissolving of dermal filler that I have personally placed.

In an emergency, such as a suspected vascular occlusion, I can also assess and provide emergency treatment for filler placed elsewhere where you are unable to contact or access your original practitioner.

A suspected vascular occlusion requires urgent assessment and treatment. Depending on the circumstances, additional specialist advice may be required, including input from the Aesthetics Complications Expert (ACE) Group or referral to an emergency department.

If you are concerned about a possible complication following treatment elsewhere, please seek urgent medical advice rather than waiting for a routine appointment.

Your safety comes first

Lip filler like any injectable treatment carries risks and side effects.

Possible side effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness, asymmetry, lumps or nodules and infection. More serious complications can occur, including vascular occlusion, which can result in tissue damage and, in rare circumstances necrosis.

These risks will be discussed with you during your consultation and as part of the informed consent process and is another reason why I do not offer same day consultation and treatment.

If I don't believe treatment is appropriate for you I will advise you not to proceed.

I am also happy to refer people onwards to other practitioners who are better suited to your needs.

What happens before treatment?

All new clients have a face-to-face consultation before treatment.

Your consultation gives us time to discuss your concerns, expectations, previous treatments and medical history, and to decide whether lip enhancement is appropriate for you.

Treatment is not carried out during the initial consultation. A cooling-off period allows you time to consider your options before deciding whether to proceed.

There is no obligation to have treatment following your consultation.

If you have a history of cold sores a course of prophylactic Aciclovir may be recommended. This is included in your personalised quotation and supplied directly to you.

What happens after treatment?

You'll receive personalised aftercare advice following your treatment.

A follow-up review is offered approximately 1-2 weeks after treatment, where appropriate, to assess the result and discuss any concerns. I also like to see the healed results!

Any further treatment will be considered on an individual basis, rather than automatically providing a 'top up'.

How much does lip enhancement cost?

Lip enhancement is individually planned, so a personalised quotation is provided at your consultation.

I don't offer packages designed around a particular number of mls and syringes cannot be split between 2 people.

The amount of product used, and whether treatment is appropriate at all, will depend on your individual treatment plan.
